PALE MALE the famous red tailed hawk in NYC who had a film produced
about him has had his nest destroyed. He lived for ten years in a nest
which he constructed in the upper floor of a Fifth Avenue balcony (in
a high rise apt.
building) overlooking Central Park. Management of the building
destroyed the nest. This was reported tonight on ABC News.

Poor little fellow...If a new nest was made, would the bird even return to
it? Something about humans touching bird things, right?

If the supporting pins were replaced, Pale Male might rebuild the nest
himself. He has apparently been circling the areas for some time. However,
the more time goes by, the less likely that would appear.

http://www.palemale.com is following this saga. If the nest was remade, he
would come back to it. This is already proven by the fact that he's trying
to rebuild it himself with help from his mate. Problem is, the same s.o.b.s
that took down the nest also removed the spikes that were supporting it,
thus ensuring an almost zero rate of success in him placing the nest back,
due to wind conditions on the location.

This SUCKS and I really hope that they can reach a compromise with the
tenants and the bastards on the board who had it removed. The Jeff Corwin
Experience found one of Pale Male's kids earlier this year, injured on a
basketball court a few miles from the nest. They took it to New Jersey for
rehabiliation and eventual release.
