I was surprised. I didn't think I would see an ethnic dig at the co-op
owners
in a national magazine like Business Week.
Bruce Nussbaum wrote: "The saddest part of this whole spectacle is that

Masters of the Universe, but they can't see the beauty of the world."
Sounds about right.
Nussbaum is BusinessWeek's editorial page editor, that's how he can get
away
with implying arrogance and drawing attention to the ethnicity of some the
apartment owners.
But he's correct.
Nussbaum is implying that the apartment owners have arrogated G*d-like
powers
to themselves.
They have.

Big sigh. It is rather doubtful that anyone else interpreted the
article in the way that you did. "Masters of the Universe" does not
have any specific ethnic connotation. It is a term generally used with
reference to Wall Street traders--regardless of their ethnicity. In
fact, some traders actually this term (with not a little pride) to
refer to themselves. You're right, it does imply arrogance, but
certainly not ethnicity.
"Masters of the Universe" was also the name of a extremely popular
Darth Vadar-like toy a number of years ago.
Er, no. You're thinking about He-Man.

I don't think that the toy
manufacturers were involved in some sort of subversive attempt to slur
any ethnic group. LOL
I'm really sorry that you did not get the point of what was basically
an eloquently-written article.
