The local TV news this morning in NYC had a story that said the co-op
building
has caved in and will allow a new nest to replace the nest which they
destroyed.
The President of the Audubon Society was on the news story as was Mary
Tyler
Moore.
What great news!!!
About god damn time! Now the question is how will this be done? Are they
going to put the spikes back that held the original in place, for one thing.

There was at least one post that said the board had been warned there
would
be a public outcry. Perhaps they underestimated it, but you might think
they could have handled this in a far more agreeable manner. With a
little
thought and some cash, they might well have come up with a more agreeable
location for the nest on the building before getting rid of the old one.
Working with the appropriate groups to begin with, they could have come
out
of this looking good.
Clear skies, Alan
I was just discussing this last night that there is no WAY that the co-op
board can come out with a positive look on this. They could get Jack Hannah
to personally reinstall the nest, and they'd STILL look like a bunch of
spoiled, rich assholes.

This is a PR *nightmare.* At BEST you could spin this as a mistake, but
there's no WAY you can make this positive. Not even the White House PR
staff could make this look good, and they're experts at fixing things like
this.

As if a co-op board in a luxury building on Fifth Avenue needs good PR.

Obviously they DO or else they'd never have bothered to enter into
negotiations to replace the nest.

So which apartment at that building do you rent?

That is a co-op. No rentals. You have to buy your eight figure
apartment, but only if the board likes you, your occupation, your
friends, your relatives, your family history, your taste in interior
decor...

That was my point. They are so rich they don't care about how they look
to the lower class slobs who love birds.

Exactly. They don't need to advertise these apartments!

Not likely to be any. It is a Coop, which is a type of condomimum. In
a normal Condo, you have title to your space, and own a portion of the
common elements. In a Coop, you own shares in the Corporation that is
the building, in proportion to the space and value of the unit(s) you
'own'...

Ergo, odds are, few if any are renting...

Save your breath. Citizen_Cain is about as dense as they come. He could
never understand the futility of fighting a co-op board.

I think you missed my point. It is too late not, but a little thought ahead
of time could have done wonders.
